Colombian fintech FinMaq has successfully secured $6.5 million in a Series A funding round, marking another significant milestone in the company’s mission to expand financial inclusion and asset financing for small and medium-sized enterprises across the region. The investment round was led by Accion, a global nonprofit impact investor dedicated to creating a financially inclusive world, and featured participation from Mundi Ventures. Additionally, the round saw continued backing from existing investors ALIVE Ventures and 30N Ventures, both of which have previously demonstrated strong confidence in FinMaq’s business model and growth trajectory. This fresh injection of capital follows closely on the heels of FinMaq’s $29 million funding round in January 2025, underlining the sustained investor momentum surrounding the company’s operations.
Founded in 2014, FinMaq has carved out a vital niche in the Colombian financial landscape by providing specialized machinery and equipment financing tailored specifically to the needs of small businesses, micro-entrepreneurs, and independent workers. For many years, traditional financial institutions in Latin America have underserved this demographic, often due to a lack of formal credit histories, collateral, or documentation. FinMaq addresses this systemic gap by establishing strategic partnerships with equipment distributors. Through these collaborative networks, the company is able to offer a comprehensive suite of financial products, including direct loans, leasing agreements equipped with purchase options, and essential aftersales services designed to ensure that business owners can maintain and maximize the utility of their acquired assets.

At the core of FinMaq’s operational success is its proprietary digital platform, which utilizes advanced credit assessment models. By looking beyond traditional metrics and incorporating alternative data sources, the platform is able to evaluate risk accurately and serve customers who possess limited or no traditional credit history. This technological edge allows FinMaq to reach segments of the population that are typically locked out of the formal banking sector, enabling everyday entrepreneurs to acquire the heavy machinery, tools, and commercial equipment necessary to scale their operations, increase their output, and generate sustainable livelihoods.
With the fresh capital secured from this Series A round, FinMaq plans to accelerate its strategic growth initiatives by expanding into new business segments across both rural and urban areas in Colombia. The company’s leadership team has set ambitious milestones for the medium term. Over the next 18 months, FinMaq aims to surpass $200 million in cumulative loan disbursements, a significant leap that will underscore its growing footprint in the market. Furthermore, the company intends to extend its financing and support services to more than 5,000 additional customers who otherwise would struggle to secure the capital needed to acquire critical business machinery.
The impact of FinMaq’s financing model is already clearly visible in the broader Colombian economy. To date, the fintech has successfully disbursed approximately $100 million in equipment financing, transforming the daily operations of countless independent workers and small business owners. This tangible socioeconomic impact is further validated by independent research. According to a comprehensive survey conducted by 60 Decibels, a specialized impact measurement company, 72 percent of FinMaq’s customers were able to finance essential business equipment for the very first time through the fintech’s platform. Even more telling of the long-term utility of the service, 83 percent of surveyed customers reported a measurable increase in their business productivity after acquiring their equipment through FinMaq, demonstrating how targeted asset financing can directly drive economic growth, improve operational efficiency, and foster upward mobility at the grassroots level of the economy.
