Uruguayan retail technology company Scanntech has successfully raised $180 million in a landmark funding round led by global investment firm L Catterton, with significant participation from Partners Group and Brazilian financial institution Bradesco. The multi-million-dollar transaction represents a major milestone for the Latin American technology sector, underscoring the growing maturity and global investor appetite for scalable retail data infrastructure originating from the region.
The complex financial transaction consists of roughly equal amounts of fresh primary capital injected directly into the company to drive future growth and secondary share sales allowing early backers to realize partial liquidity. Through this combined structure, the incoming group of new investors has collectively acquired a stake of approximately 30% in the company.
As part of the capitalization process, global investment giant Warburg Pincus—which previously invested $40 million in Scanntech in 2023—has elected to sell a portion of its original stake. However, Warburg Pincus remains a committed shareholder in the business, signaling ongoing institutional confidence in Scanntech’s long-term commercial trajectory and market position.

Founded back in 1992, Scanntech has spent decades refining a specialized technological ecosystem designed to capture, aggregate, and analyze retail sales data in real time. The company’s core platform provides critical infrastructure for both traditional brick-and-mortar retailers and major consumer goods manufacturers. By giving these industry players granular visibility into real-time retail metrics, Scanntech enables them to track rapid price fluctuations, monitor exact sales volumes, evaluate shifting market share dynamics, and measure the precise performance of promotional campaigns and discounting strategies.
With the fresh injection of $180 million in capital, Scanntech is positioning itself for a broad international push. The company currently operates across six distinct regional markets: its home base of Uruguay, alongside Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico. Armed with the new resources provided by L Catterton, Partners Group, and Bradesco, Scanntech has formulated a strategic roadmap to break into entirely new international markets, with expansion efforts slated to officially kick off in 2027.
The company’s expansion plans are underpinned by robust operational scale and strong financial momentum. Scanntech currently processes more than $200 billion in annual retail sales across its existing footprint, reflecting the massive volume of commerce that flows through its integrated point-of-sale and data collection systems. Furthermore, the business is experiencing steady top-line growth, expanding at a rate of approximately 30% year-over-year. Within its current portfolio of countries, Brazil stands out as Scanntech’s single largest and most lucrative market, serving as a primary engine for its overall scale and continued commercial momentum.
