Pedro Fernández Kicks Off U.S. Tour Ahead of Milestone 50th Anniversary in Music

As he prepares to celebrate a remarkable half-century in the entertainment industry, legendary ranchera singer and actor Pedro Fernández is officially taking his music back to the United States. The celebrated artist has launched his highly anticipated "Ave Fénix Two’R 2026" tour, a 13-city trek across the country that marks his first-ever promotional partnership with Live Nation. The journey begins this Thursday at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, signaling a major new chapter for the veteran performer as he reconnects with his loyal American fan base.

The expansive trek serves as an evolution of his 2025 "Ave Fénix Tour," building upon the momentum of last year’s sporadic U.S. performances. Those dates followed closely on the heels of the release of Te Doy La Vida in 2024, which marked his first studio album in six years. According to Fernández, the title of the tour—derived from the Spanish phrase for "Phoenix Bird"—carries profound personal and professional significance, representing a powerful rebirth and the beginning of a fresh artistic chapter following his brief hiatus from recording new material.

The tour’s itinerary is packed with high-profile stops at major venues across the nation. Following the Los Angeles launch, Fernández will bring his grand production to iconic locations such as Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The extensive journey is scheduled to culminate on December 5 at the Cal Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego.

Reflecting on his return to American stages, the artist shared his enthusiasm for the project in an interview with Billboard Español. "I’m happy to be back with the U.S. audience with this wonderful production, for which we’ve worked on a special repertoire and many surprises," Fernández said. "Interacting with them and bringing them my music, and above all the joy and a little piece of our Mexico, is very gratifying."

A Storied Legacy Rooted in Childhood Stardom

Born José Martín Cuevas Cobos, the artist who would become known as Pedro Fernández is rapidly approaching a rare milestone: 50 years in the music business. His professional journey began as a young child when he adopted his celebrated stage name as an homage to two towering figures of Mexican culture and music, Pedro Infante and Vicente Fernández.

His breakout moment arrived swiftly at just nine years old, when he captured the hearts of audiences across Latin America by starring in the hit film La Niña de la Mochila Azul. Alongside the movie, he released a title track and an accompanying album of the same name, instantly cementing his status as a child prodigy and launching a lifelong career in both film and music.

Over the decades, Fernández has translated his early success into a prolific career spanning approximately 25 feature films and numerous successful telenovelas. Simultaneously, he built an extraordinary discography that has regularly dominated Billboard charts. Classic hits such as "Mi Forma de Sentir," "Quién," and "Sin Verte" all achieved prominent positions within the top 10 on the Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay, and Regional Mexican Airplay charts. Furthermore, his 2010 album Amarte A La Antigua demonstrated his enduring commercial power by spending seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart while successfully crossing over onto the all-genre Billboard 200.

Now at 57 years of age, Fernández remains deeply focused on the intricate preparation required to deliver world-class live performances that honor his storied career.

Behind the Scenes of the "Ave Fénix Two’R 2026"

Discussing the mechanics and creative vision behind his current tour, Fernández explained that while the show maintains a consistent conceptual backbone rooted in his greatest career hits, it is also designed to be flexible and adaptive to the unique architecture of each venue.

Pedro Fernández on Bringing His Ave Fénix Two’R to the U.S., A Journey ‘Open to Spontaneity’

"The show follows the same concept as always, but it will adapt to different venues," Fernández noted. "The setlist has a backbone of songs that have been hits in my career, along with some new music, and we have a portion open to spontaneity—meaning something the audience requests that we’ll gladly include on the spot."

The partnership with Live Nation has allowed the singer to elevate the visual and technical scope of his performances, a development he deeply appreciates. "I’m very grateful, first to the audience and also to the media because they’re our partners," he said. "But I’m also thankful to Live Nation because they’re allowing me to bring a project with a great production to the U.S. market, which has always supported me."

The tour’s routing features venues that hold special meaning for the artist. Aside from his opening night return to the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles—a site of previous triumphs—Fernández expressed particular excitement for upcoming shows that challenge traditional stage setups. At the Payne Arena in Texas, his production will utilize a 360-degree circular format, transforming the arena experience for both the performer and the attendees. Additionally, the tour marks his triumphant return to New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden after many years away from the venue.

Maintaining the high-energy choreography that has long been a trademark of his live shows requires rigorous upkeep, a challenge Fernández approaches with a combination of good genetics, physical discipline, and mental focus.

"I thank God that I’m in good physical condition; my genetics are good, so my health is too," he explained. "Physical fitness for the show must be optimal because it’s very demanding to maintain energy from start to finish. However, the most important thing is mental preparation. Staying focused and concentrated is essential, not just for the songs but also for the choreography, and discipline plays a vital role. The audience deserves to see you at your best."

Looking Ahead to a Golden Anniversary

As the "Ave Fénix Two’R 2026" moves across the United States, it serves as the direct prelude to an even bigger milestone in 2027, when Fernández will officially mark a half-century in the music industry. Working alongside his team at Star Media Consulting and Live Nation, the singer is already mapping out extensive plans to commemorate the golden anniversary on a grand scale.

"This tour is the prelude to a very important year," Fernández said. "After discussing it with my team at Star Media Consulting and Live Nation, we’re clear that what’s coming in 2027 must be spectacular. I’m excited and motivated because this is something not everyone gets to celebrate. We want to hit all kinds of stages, from palenques to returning to Mexico’s Auditorio Nacional and arenas."

Looking beyond the current U.S. dates and the upcoming domestic celebrations in Mexico, the anniversary plans are slated to become truly international. Fernández confirmed that his team is actively organizing subsequent legs to visit U.S. cities not covered on the current routing, alongside anticipated expansions into South America. Discussions are currently underway to bring the 50th-anniversary celebration to audiences in Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, and Paraguay, with preliminary talks also exploring potential dates in Europe.
