Flai, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup founded by three entrepreneurs from Uruguay, has successfully raised $27 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by prominent venture capital firm Base10 Partners, with additional participation from a robust syndicate of institutional investors and industry stakeholders, including First Round Capital, Toyota Ventures, Y Combinator, The Friedkin Group, and Findlay Automotive. This substantial capital injection highlights the growing appetite among investors for verticalized artificial intelligence applications capable of transforming traditional industries through automation and enhanced customer engagement.
Established in 2025 by co-founders Ari Polakof, Alen Polakof, and Juan Alzugaray, Flai specializes in developing advanced AI agents tailored specifically for the automotive retail sector. The company’s proprietary platform is designed to shoulder the heavy administrative and communicative burdens traditionally managed by dealership personnel. Flai’s intelligent agents seamlessly handle customer calls, process incoming messages, reply to emails, schedule service and sales appointments, dispatch automated maintenance reminders, and execute systematic follow-ups with potential car buyers. By integrating deeply with existing dealership management systems (DMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software, the startup ensures that automotive retailers can maintain uninterrupted, highly responsive communication channels with their clientele without expanding their human workforce at the same rate.

The newly secured $27 million in Series A funding will be strategically deployed across multiple growth initiatives designed to accelerate the company’s market penetration. Flai plans to channel the capital into customer acquisition efforts to capture a larger share of the US automotive retail market, while simultaneously driving increased sales and feature adoption among its existing client base. Furthermore, the company intends to significantly scale its internal organization. As part of its international operational strategy, Flai has also announced plans to open a new office in Uruguay in November 2026, tapping into the rich regional tech talent pool from which the founding team originally emerged.
Flai’s rapid commercial traction underscores the urgent demand for intelligent automation within the automotive sector. The company currently schedules more than 50,000 appointments per month and counts more than 10 of the 50 largest automotive dealership groups in the United States among its active clients. This robust adoption rate has translated into staggering financial and organizational growth. Over the past year alone, Flai’s revenue has surged by an impressive factor of 20, reflecting a product-market fit that has resonated deeply with major players in the US car dealership landscape. Parallel to its commercial expansion, the startup’s internal team has scaled rapidly, growing from its original trio of co-founders to approximately 40 employees as it prepares for its next phase of enterprise scaling and geographic expansion.
