HACU Partners with Google Cloud to Offer No-Cost AI Training to Students at HACU-Member Institutions

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced a major new collaboration with Google Cloud aimed at bridging the technology skills gap for undergraduate and graduate students across the United States. Through this strategic initiative, HACU-member institutions will gain access to the Google Career Launchpad program, providing students with tuition-free training in critical areas such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

The partnership comes at a time when the modern global economy is undergoing a massive digital transformation, with businesses across all sectors increasingly relying on cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence to drive innovation, efficiency, and growth. By teaming up with a technology leader like Google Cloud, HACU is directly addressing the evolving demands of the contemporary workforce, ensuring that students from diverse and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds are well-positioned to secure high-paying, future-proof careers in the technology sector.

Under the terms of the new agreement, eligible students enrolled at HACU-member colleges and universities will have the unique opportunity to prepare for the prestigious Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification. The comprehensive training curriculum is designed to accommodate the busy schedules of modern college students through a flexible mix of self-paced online courses, live virtual instruction, and practical, hands-on labs. Beyond the technical coursework, participants will also benefit from dedicated mentorship opportunities and valuable career development resources aimed at smoothing their transition from higher education into the professional workforce.

Antonio R. Flores, President and CEO of HACU, emphasized the profound impact that direct industry partnerships of this caliber can have on student success and long-term career mobility.

“The Google Career Launchpad program offers students direct access to essential tools and resources needed to thrive in a cloud computing and AI-focused workforce,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

In today’s competitive job market, theoretical knowledge alone is often insufficient to secure employment in specialized technical fields. Employers are actively seeking candidates who possess demonstrable, practical experience working with enterprise-grade cloud environments and generative artificial intelligence tools. Through this initiative, students will be able to gain direct, hands-on experience using Google Cloud labs, allowing them to build a robust portfolio of practical competencies and technical skills that modern employers are actively looking for.

The value of the program extends far beyond the instructional phase. Students who successfully complete the rigorous curriculum and meet all program requirements will be rewarded with substantial professional credentials. Participants will receive a complimentary voucher covering the cost of the official certification exam, effectively removing financial barriers that often prevent talented students from obtaining industry-recognized credentials. Furthermore, successful completers will be granted six months of continued access to advanced Google Cloud curriculum through Google Skills, all offered at absolutely no cost to the students or their home institutions.

This collaborative effort directly aligns with HACU’s long-standing institutional mission to champion student success and create equitable economic pathways for Hispanic and diverse youth. As the technology sector continues to expand and reshape the global business landscape, educational institutions face mounting pressure to keep their academic offerings aligned with real-world industry demands.

“By connecting students with opportunities like this program, HACU advances its mission to create pathways that equip them with in-demand skills and training to succeed in the rapidly evolving world of technology,” added Flores.

The integration of cloud computing and generative AI training into the academic ecosystem of HACU-member institutions represents a vital step toward democratizing access to cutting-edge technology education. Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and other HACU-member colleges educate millions of students every year, many of whom are first-generation college students or come from economic backgrounds that make expensive external certifications cost-prohibitive. By absorbing the costs associated with training, lab environments, and certification exams, HACU and Google Cloud are working together to level the playing field and ensure that talent, rather than financial privilege, determines a student’s professional future.

Eligibility Requirements

Students interested in taking advantage of this significant professional development opportunity should review the specific criteria established for the program. While the training is designed to be accessible to a wide array of learners across HACU-member campuses, participants must meet specific institutional and academic requirements to qualify for enrollment and to receive the certification exam vouchers and extended Google Skills access.

The timeline for prospective applicants is already underway, with organizers setting a firm application deadline for September 18, 2026. Interested students, faculty members, and academic administrators at HACU-member institutions are encouraged to review the official program guidelines and submit their applications well in advance of the deadline. Comprehensive details regarding the application process, curriculum schedule, technical prerequisites, and institutional guidelines can be found by visiting the official HACU program portal online.
