Pedro Fernández Kicks Off U.S. Tour Ahead of 50th Anniversary in Music

As he prepares to celebrate a remarkable half-century in the entertainment industry, iconic ranchera singer and actor Pedro Fernández is officially bringing his artistry back to American audiences. The celebrated performer is launching his extensive Ave Fénix Two’R 2026 tour, a 13-city trek across the United States that marks his first-ever partnership with Live Nation. The journey begins this Thursday at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, setting the stage for what promises to be a nostalgic yet refreshed celebration of traditional Mexican music.

The new tour serves as a direct continuation of his 2025 Ave Fénix Tour, expanding his reach to major venues across the country. Following the grand opening in Los Angeles, the schedule includes high-profile stops at legendary locations such as Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Rosemont Theatre in Chicago, the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, and the Cal Credit Union Open Air Theatre in San Diego, where the tour is slated to conclude on December 5.

Reflecting on his return to American stages, Fernández shared his enthusiasm in an interview with Billboard Español. "I’m happy to be back with the U.S. audience with this wonderful production, for which we’ve worked on a special repertoire and many surprises," the artist expressed. "Interacting with them and bringing them my music, and above all the joy and a little piece of our Mexico, is very gratifying."

This U.S. trek follows a series of sporadic performances during his previous tour last year, which came on the heels of the release of his 2024 album Te Doy La Vida—his first studio release in six years. The title of the tour, which translates to "Phoenix Bird" in English, carries deep personal and artistic significance for the singer. He explains that the moniker signifies the beginning of a fresh chapter in his career following a period spent away from recording new material.

Born José Martín Cuevas Cobos, the artist will reach a monumental milestone next year, marking fifty years since he first stepped into the professional music world as a child prodigy. Adopting his iconic stage name as a heartfelt tribute to two towering figures of Mexican culture and music—Pedro Infante and Vicente Fernández—he captured the public’s imagination almost immediately. His career skyrocketed at the tender age of nine when he starred in the classic film La Niña de la Mochila Azul and simultaneously released a title-track song and album that became massive cultural touchstones.

In the decades that followed, Fernández has maintained a prolific presence in both film and television, appearing in roughly 25 feature films and numerous beloved telenovelas. At the same time, his rich baritone and dynamic delivery cemented his status as a powerhouse on the charts. He has secured multiple top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay, and Regional Mexican Airplay charts with enduring anthems such as "Mi Forma de Sentir," "Quién," and "Sin Verte." Furthermore, his 2010 studio album Amarte A La Antigua dominated the commercial landscape, spending an impressive seven weeks at the number one position on the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart while also making a significant crossover appearance on the all-genre Billboard 200.

A Dynamic Production and Setlist

Now 57 years old, Fernández is taking a moment to reflect on his enduring legacy, the physical demands of his performances, and the exciting milestones that lie ahead. When asked what fans can anticipate from the current live production, the singer explains that the show balances nostalgic fan favorites with contemporary elements.

"The show follows the same concept as always, but it will adapt to different venues," Fernández explains. "The setlist has a backbone of songs that have been hits in my career, along with some new music, and we have a portion open to spontaneity—meaning something the audience requests that we’ll gladly include on the spot."

Collaborating with Live Nation for this leg of his career has also opened new doors for the production value of his shows. Expressing deep appreciation for his support system, Fernández notes, "I’m very grateful, first to the audience and also to the media because they’re our partners. But I’m also thankful to Live Nation because they’re allowing me to bring a project with a great production to the U.S. market, which has always supported me."

The physical layout of the concerts is another element that has evolved for this tour, allowing the performer to engage with audiences in unique ways. "In addition to being important, some of them are very meaningful," Fernández says of the chosen venues. "For example, almost three years ago, I performed at the YouTube Theater with great success, and now I’m returning to kick off the tour there. I’ll be heading to Las Vegas and to the Payne Arena, where we’ll do a 360-degree format, which means we’ll transform the production into a circular setup—this excites me a lot. Doing different things is thrilling for me. I’m also returning after many years to New York, to an iconic venue like Madison Square Garden."

Physical Conditioning and Preparing for the Future

Known just as much for his energetic stage presence and dancing as he is for his powerful vocals, Fernández maintains a strict regimen to meet the rigorous demands of a live concert tour. Maintaining optimal stamina is a priority when executing high-energy choreography night after night.

"I thank God that I’m in good physical condition; my genetics are good, so my health is too," he shares. "Physical fitness for the show must be optimal because it’s very demanding to maintain energy from start to finish. However, the most important thing is mental preparation. Staying focused and concentrated is essential, not just for the songs but also for the choreography, and discipline plays a vital role. The audience deserves to see you at your best."

Looking further ahead to 2027, the celebration of his golden anniversary in the music industry will take center stage. Rather than treating the current U.S. tour as an isolated event, Fernández views it as the opening act for a much larger, global commemoration.

"This tour is the prelude to a very important year," Fernández says. "After discussing it with my team at Star Media Consulting and Live Nation, we’re clear that what’s coming in 2027 must be spectacular. I’m excited and motivated because this is something not everyone gets to celebrate. We want to hit all kinds of stages, from palenques to returning to Mexico’s Auditorio Nacional and arenas."

As for whether these festivities will stretch beyond North America, the singer confirms that international expansion is already in the works. Plans are actively being developed to revisit the United States to perform in cities not covered on the current itinerary, while also bringing the anniversary production to fans throughout Latin America, including Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Additionally, discussions are underway to take the celebration across the Atlantic to European audiences.
