Karol G Lights Up MetLife Stadium with High-Energy Spectacle on First Night in New Jersey

On her first of two nights at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Colombian superstar Karol G brought the house down on Thursday, September 17, delivering a joyful and high-energy show that kept the audience on its feet from beginning to end. Not a single minute was wasted as the globally renowned artist took the stage for a world-class production that showcased her unmatched charm, charisma, and deep connection with her fiercely loyal fanbase.

The concert set a vibrant tone against a stunning cavern-like backdrop flanked by two massive screens. The elaborate, world-class production included a large live band, mesmerizing choreography, sparkling outfits, intricate lighting design, pyrotechnics, special guest appearances, and even a stage pool. Floating above it all, Karol G commanded the massive venue with the effortless confidence of a true global icon.

Addressing the capacity crowd amidst deafening roars and cheers, the singer expressed her excitement about reuniting with her New Jersey fans.

"I don’t know, but we haven’t seen each other in about two or three years, so I hope we tear the house down tonight — because we came to sing, we came to dance, we came to cry, we came to scream, we came to have a blast — yes or no!?" Karol G shouted to the ecstatic audience, drawing an overwhelming wave of affirmation from the stadium.

Divided thoughtfully into six distinct acts, the carefully curated setlist allowed the artist to take her fans on a dynamic emotional and musical journey. One segment was specially dedicated to her newly released album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, which dropped on August 7, just two weeks after her major tour officially got underway.

The show kicked off at full throttle, with Karol performing high-octane hits like "Latina Foreva," "Un Gatito Me Llamó," "Oki Doki / Ta OK," and "Qlona." She was joined on stage by an impressive troupe of dancers, while laser lights and dazzling fireworks illuminated the New Jersey night sky.

This high-energy opening was followed by one of the most visually striking and colorful segments of the evening, dedicated entirely to her Tropicoqueta era. This portion of the show featured a heavy dose of Latin flair, shimmering sequins, vibrant live percussion, a spectacular feathered headdress, and even a massive decorative macaw that the singer boldly climbed onto to perform part of the infectious lambada track "Papasito."

One of the night’s absolute standout surprises was the unannounced appearance of special guests Tainy, Judeline, and Rusowsky. Together, the group treated the roaring stadium to a live rendition of the global number-one hit of the moment, "BbY WOW." The track, which is featured prominently on Karol G’s new album, has been dominating the international music landscape, sitting comfortably atop both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts for a second consecutive week.

Thursday night’s spectacular concert was a major stop on the massive Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour, which officially kicked off on July 24 in Chicago. The event marked the Medellín star’s triumphant return to MetLife Stadium, where she had previously performed to a massive crowd in September 2023 during her groundbreaking first stadium tour, Mañana Será Bonito.

The evening began with a stellar opening set by Venezuelan singer-songwriter Elena Rose, whose performance warmed up the stadium with popular fan favorites including "Caracas en el 2000," "Cosita Linda," and "Orion."

Promoted globally by Live Nation, the extensive world tour serves as a direct celebration of Karol G’s latest studio album, Tropicoqueta. The record made a massive splash upon release, debuting at the number one spot on the Top Latin Albums chart and securing a strong number-three debut on the all-genre Billboard 200. Furthermore, the album achieved a historic milestone for the singer when all 20 of its tracks simultaneously debuted on the Hot Latin Songs chart, marking a first for her illustrious career.

The celebration continued off the stage as well, with Karol receiving seven prestigious Latin Grammy nominations earlier in the week. Her nominations span several of the academy’s top categories, including album of the year, record of the year, and song of the year, further cementing her status as one of the most influential and successful Latin artists of her generation.

Following her triumphant Thursday performance, Karol G is set to return to the MetLife Stadium stage for the second night of her New Jersey run on Friday, September 18. From there, her extensive United States trek will continue through major markets including Atlanta, Houston, and Miami, before she wraps up the final leg of her 2026 calendar with a series of highly anticipated shows in Mexico. The worldwide tour is scheduled to resume in 2027, kicking off its international expansion with a fresh string of dates across Europe.
