Panama-Based Fintech EFY Finance Secures Strategic Investment from Tether to Accelerate Institutional Stablecoin Adoption in Latin America

Panama-based financial technology company EFY Finance has successfully secured a strategic investment from Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin, as part of its ongoing seed funding round. While the specific financial terms and the exact monetary amount of the investment have not been publicly disclosed, the partnership marks a significant milestone for the regional fintech as it seeks to expand its footprint and influence across Latin America’s evolving digital asset landscape.

EFY Finance operates as a comprehensive financial infrastructure provider, specializing in cross-border payments, digital asset custody, and specialized stablecoin accounts. The company’s robust platform is designed to bridge the gap between traditional fiat currencies and the digital economy, allowing both corporate enterprises and individual users to seamlessly convert traditional money into stablecoins. In addition to currency conversion, the platform grants users access to digital wallets and payment cards, while streamlining the final settlement of transactions through traditional local bank accounts. This hybrid approach addresses some of the most persistent friction points in cross-border commerce, particularly in regions where legacy banking infrastructure often results in high fees and extended processing times.

With the fresh capital injected by Tether, EFY Finance plans to scale its operations significantly. Specifically, the fintech will use the investment proceeds to expand institutional access to USD₮ and USA₮, aiming to deepen liquidity and utility for corporate clients. Furthermore, the funding will enable the company to strengthen the underlying connections between stablecoins, traditional commercial banks, and established payment networks. By creating tighter integrations between these historically siloed financial systems, EFY Finance intends to make stablecoin transactions as frictionless and universally accepted as traditional wire transfers or card payments, while retaining the speed and cost-efficiency inherent to blockchain technology.

The investment from Tether comes at a time when EFY Finance is already demonstrating substantial operational traction and regulatory compliance within the region. The company holds a coveted Digital Asset Service Provider license in El Salvador, a jurisdiction that has positioned itself at the forefront of cryptocurrency and digital asset regulation in Latin America. This regulatory backing has provided EFY Finance with a secure foundation to scale its operations responsibly. Currently, the platform serves more than 25,000 active individual and business accounts, reflecting a growing demand for reliable digital asset infrastructure among everyday users and commercial entities alike.

To support its diverse customer base, EFY Finance has built a robust ecosystem that supports more than 12 distinct currencies and multiple international payment corridors. The platform’s capability to offer local settlement in 17 different countries makes it a powerful tool for businesses engaging in regional trade, eliminating many of the currency conversion hurdles and administrative burdens typically associated with cross-border commerce in Latin America. As institutional interest in stablecoins continues to rise globally, strategic partnerships and investments of this nature are expected to play a crucial role in mainstreaming digital assets, transforming how businesses operate, settle payments, and manage treasury assets across developing markets.
