Chilean Legaltech Startup Magnar Secures $8 Million Series A to Fuel Expansion Across Latin America

Chilean legaltech startup Magnar has successfully raised an $8 million Series A funding round as it looks to accelerate its growth across Latin America and break into two of the region’s largest legal markets. The investment round was jointly led by 6 Degrees Capital and Hi Ventures, signaling strong regional confidence in the company’s artificial intelligence platform designed specifically for the legal sector.

The financing initiative also drew participation from a roster of prominent venture capital firms and strategic regional players, including FEN Ventures, Platanus Ventures, Nascent Ventures, and Beccar Varela. Despite having been founded just over a year ago, the Santiago-born startup has rapidly established a foothold in the Latin American technology ecosystem by addressing the day-to-day operational challenges faced by legal professionals across multiple jurisdictions.

Magnar develops an advanced artificial intelligence platform engineered to assist lawyers with a wide range of complex tasks, including researching legislation and case law, analyzing dense legal information, and efficiently drafting and reviewing legal documents. Rather than forcing legal teams to adopt entirely new, standalone software environments, the platform integrates directly into familiar enterprise tools such as Microsoft Word and Outlook. Furthermore, the system is tailored to incorporate localized legal sources specific to each market it serves, ensuring that practitioners have accurate, context-aware information at their fingertips.

Magnar raises $8M Series A

The newly secured $8 million in capital will be strategically deployed across several key areas of the business. First, Magnar plans to significantly expand its core product development team to accelerate feature rollouts and refine its underlying AI models. The fresh funds will also be used to deepen the company’s existing market presence in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay, where it has already built a solid foundation of active users and partner law firms.

Crucially, the Series A round will finance Magnar’s aggressive expansion into Brazil and Mexico. These two countries represent massive opportunities for legal technology adoption, boasting a combined total of approximately 1.9 million practicing lawyers. To successfully capture market share in these new territories, Magnar plans to establish local physical offices and build dedicated commercial teams on the ground, allowing the company to engage directly with large law firms, corporate legal departments, and independent practitioners in Latin America’s largest economies.

At present, Magnar boasts a user base of approximately 30,000 individuals and maintains active working relationships with 350 law firms distributed across its seven current operating countries in the region. The sheer volume of regional legal professionals using the platform underscores a growing demand for specialized legaltech solutions that understand the nuances of local civil law traditions, regulatory frameworks, and regional languages.

Reflecting on the company’s trajectory and the significance of the latest funding milestone, Andrés Arellano, CEO of Magnar, emphasized the startup’s regional focus from day one. He noted that the company was built specifically with the realities of Latin American lawyers in mind, taking into account their unique legal codes, distinct terminology, and established working methods. According to Arellano, this new infusion of capital will enable the company to dedicate more human talent and financial resources toward building an even more robust platform for existing clients, while simultaneously introducing the technology to a much broader audience of legal professionals throughout Latin America.
