Edtech and fintech startup OrderEAT has successfully raised $2 million in a new funding round as it looks to accelerate the modernization and digital transformation of school cafeterias throughout Latin America. The investment round was led by Chile Ventures, signaling strong regional confidence in the company’s dual-purpose platform, which bridges the gap between digital payments for families and operational management for school food services.
The financing round also featured participation from a notable group of institutional investors and venture capital firms, including Driven VC, Add Ventures, and Seedstars. In addition to these institutional funds, the round attracted prominent angel investors, including Sergio Fogel and Avedis Boudakian, whose backing further validates OrderEAT’s scalable business model and its potential for long-term regional impact.
OrderEAT was founded by a team of Uruguayan entrepreneurs committed to streamlining traditional, cash-based school environments. The company was established by Matías Craviotto, Juan Manuel Rodriguez, and Luis Pedro Carrero, who recognized the inefficiencies, logistical hurdles, and security risks associated with handling physical money within educational institutions. By introducing a comprehensive digital ecosystem, the founders set out to transform how school cafeterias operate on a daily basis.
At its core, OrderEAT functions as a dual-sided platform catering to both parents and cafeteria operators. For families, the platform provides a dedicated mobile application that allows parents to easily add funds to their accounts and pre-order meals for their children. This mechanism eliminates the need for students to carry cash to school, addressing common parental concerns regarding pocket money loss, budgeting, and the types of food choices children make during the school day.

Simultaneously, the platform offers a robust suite of tools designed specifically for cafeteria operators and school administrators. Through OrderEAT’s software, operators can efficiently manage menus, monitor and forecast inventory levels, track nutritional information to ensure compliance with school health standards, and oversee day-to-day sales data. This operational digitization significantly reduces waste, optimizes food preparation, and provides clear financial visibility for school food service providers.
The newly secured $2 million capital injection will be deployed primarily to fuel OrderEAT’s ongoing expansion across the Latin American region. While the startup already boasts a significant footprint, the founding team has identified Chile as a key strategic market for immediate growth. OrderEAT currently operates in more than 50 schools across Chile, and the fresh funding will enable the company to deepen its penetration in the country, forging new partnerships with educational institutions and scaling its local support infrastructure.
OrderEAT’s broader regional footprint is already substantial. The startup currently operates in more than 600 schools spread across Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru. Within this extensive network, the platform serves a thriving community of more than 250,000 active students. The company’s growth trajectory has accelerated notably in recent months, demonstrated by its ability to add 200 new schools to its network in a span of less than six months. Building on this momentum, the startup has set ambitious targets for the near future, aiming to surpass one million active students within the next 18 months.
The backing from regional heavyweights like Chile Ventures, Driven VC, Add Ventures, and Seedstars positions OrderEAT favorably as it navigates the competitive Latin American edtech and fintech landscapes. By addressing a universal pain point for schools and parents alike—the digitization of mundane yet critical daily operations—OrderEAT continues to cement its position as a leading infrastructure provider for school communities throughout the region.
