Mexican Musician Nsqk Announces Ambitious New Album ‘Mosca’ and Extensive 2027 Tour Across Mexico and the U.S.

Mexican alternative artist Nsqk is preparing to step into a massive new era of his career, announcing his upcoming album Mosca alongside an extensive 2027 tour that will take him to major venues across Mexico and the United States, including a landmark performance at Mexico City’s GNP Seguros Stadium.

For his latest full-length project, the musician—whose legal name is Rodrigo Torres—embraced the grand ambition of addressing monumental themes, drawing direct inspiration from the dark, existential horrors of the modern world famously foreshadowed by Czech author Franz Kafka in his masterwork The Metamorphosis, which was published 110 years ago.

The conceptual foundation of the album took root back in 2024, shortly after Torres moved into a new apartment in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey alongside his partner. As he detailed in an interview with Billboard Español, the couple was suddenly confronted by an unexpected and unsettling plague of flies invading their home.

Recalling the surreal experience, Torres noted that the insects were unusually large, resembling what he described as ominous, cemetery-like creatures. At first, he did not think much of the situation, but as the daily count escalated to three, four, and five flies, a sense of genuine fear set in. He felt as though he were living inside a horror movie, particularly because they maintained a clean living space and could find no apparent physical reason for the infestation.

Following the suggestion of his manager, Torres ultimately decided to seek the guidance of a shaman. According to the musician, the practitioner informed him that someone had cast a spell against him, explaining that such forms of witchcraft often manifest in the physical world through sudden plagues. Following a single session with the shaman, Torres returned to his Monterrey residence and found, to his profound surprise, that the flies had completely vanished.

With the physical plague resolved, the musician transitioned into a deep period of personal and creative reflection. He began drawing parallels between the sudden, overwhelming changes artists experience when they achieve fame and the grotesque physical and psychological transformation suffered by Gregor Samsa, the protagonist of Kafka’s seminal novella. He observed that fame is its own kind of metamorphosis, and if it is not carefully managed, it can easily turn into something grotesque and entirely unrecognizable.

The profound shifts Torres experienced during this transformative period ultimately spurred an artistic evolution of unprecedented dimensions. These developments culminated in Mosca, which he positions as his most ambitious and accomplished musical statement to date. The project is designed to propel him further into the international spotlight by significantly expanding his creative universe and boldly challenging the conventional boundaries of alternative music.

Nsqk Undergoes Metamorphosis with New Album ‘Mosca,’ Transforming the ‘Fear of Not Meeting Expectations’

Explaining the mindset behind the record, Torres shared that he aimed to introduce entirely new sonic textures and much more daring lyrical concepts to his discography. He noted that this creative leap stemmed directly from a transformed version of the fear of failing to meet expectations. As an artist working alongside his dedicated team, his goal was to forge something entirely novel, refusing to settle for what is merely sufficient while consistently striving to deliver uncompromising quality.

Musically, Mosca serves as a direct follow-up to his 2024 album ATP. On this 17-track project, Nsqk explores rock music more deeply than ever before in his repertoire, utilizing guitars and heavy audio distortion to evoke the distinct feelings of arrogance, aggression, and rejection that raw ambition often provokes among those who do not understand the relentless pursuit of greatness. Beyond its rock foundations, the expansive album ventures fearlessly into a diverse array of other musical genres, including electronic production, urban beats, hip-hop, and pop sensibilities.

This spirit of sonic metamorphosis and collaborative exploration is further enriched by an impressive roster of guest artists featured across the tracklist. The album includes contributions from Julieta Venegas on "Estar Así Siempre," Kevin Kaarl on "Circo," Eslabón Armado on "Mil Problemas," Nina Minguez on "tuffluv," Jean Dawson on "Dientes de Fierro," and Riosse on "Lo Tuvimos Pero Ya No Está."

Discussing the creative synergy behind these collaborations, Torres highlighted a shared cultural understanding with several of his peers. He noted a particularly strong connection with Eslabón Armado, pointing out that because they share Mexican origins while having been raised in the United States, they inhabit a unique cultural limbo. In this space, artists often find themselves feeling neither American enough for mainstream American culture nor traditionally Mexican enough for audiences in Mexico.

This fresh artistic era will be accompanied by an extensive live tour spanning both Mexico and the United States, bringing Nsqk’s immersive new show to thousands of fans. The crown jewel of the Mexican itinerary is his highly anticipated debut at Mexico City’s iconic GNP Seguros Stadium, scheduled for January 23, 2027. The stadium concert is being produced by Ocesa, while the broader Mexican leg of the tour is coordinated with the production company Apodaca. Before reaching the capital, Torres will perform in various Mexican cities, including Saltillo, Torreón, Hermosillo, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz, among others.

Following his performances in Mexico, the U.S. leg of the Mosca World Tour is officially set to kick off on May 11, 2027, in Chicago. Due to exceptionally high ticket demand from fans, additional shows have already been added in both Chicago and locations across Texas. The itinerary features stops in major cultural hubs such as Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Austin, and San Francisco. Furthermore, the routing includes high-profile performances at Irving Plaza in New York City on May 16, Cine El Rey in McAllen, Texas, on May 30, and the historic El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on June 8.

Reflecting on the magnitude of the upcoming tour and the milestone of performing at venues like the GNP Seguros Stadium, Torres expressed deep appreciation for the journey ahead. He shared that he feels profoundly blessed and grateful for the opportunity, emphasizing that his primary goal is to ensure every attendee leaves the venue feeling as though they have just witnessed a truly historic event.
