Brazilian biotechnology startup BioLinker has successfully secured $1.7 million in a new funding round to accelerate its synthetic biology and genetic engineering initiatives. The capital injection features a significant contribution from venture firm Axcell, which invested $1.4 million, alongside public backing from FAPESP through its PIPE Phase 2 program, which contributed approximately $240,000.
Founded in 2018 by a team of scientists originating from the University of São Paulo, BioLinker specializes in the development and manufacturing of recombinant proteins. These specialized biological products serve a vital role across multiple sectors, providing crucial support for scientific research, diagnostic procedures, and industrial applications. By harnessing advanced synthetic biology techniques, the company aims to streamline and enhance how biological components are produced and utilized within the region.
With the newly acquired capital, BioLinker is setting its sights on ambitious regional and operational expansion. A primary focus of the funding will be directed toward the construction of a cutting-edge, automated laboratory situated within the Amazon BioBusiness Center located in Manaus. This upcoming facility will leverage advanced robotics to generate vast quantities of biological data at scale. According to the company, this large-scale data generation is essential for training sophisticated artificial intelligence models and significantly expanding domestic DNA production capabilities within Brazil.

In tandem with its technological and infrastructure investments, BioLinker plans to scale its workforce. The company intends to double the size of its internal team, expanding its current headcount from 12 employees to 24 professionals as it ramps up its operational capacity in Manaus and its existing facilities.
Despite closing this latest injection of capital, BioLinker’s current funding round remains actively open. The startup is presently seeking an international strategic investor to support its broader global and regional expansion goals. This ongoing fundraising effort serves as a bridge toward a larger, planned Series A financing round anticipated within the next two years.
Operating on a solid financial foundation, BioLinker already generates recurring revenue from its current market activities. Company leadership expects that the newly secured $1.7 million will comfortably fund three full years of continued operations, providing the enterprise with the stability needed to execute its long-term research, automation, and scaling strategies without immediate capital pressure.
